Job Description

The position is responsible for assisting, managing and overseeing the development and implementation of privacy, and compliance strategies and programs for Celcom Axiata Berhad (“Celcom’).  To minimize and mitigate Celcom’s exposure to compliance risks as well as to ensure effective monitoring/ measurement of the performance of Celcom’s privacy programme with the aim of protecting and safeguarding Celcom’s interest, image and reputation.




  • Influencing and transforming mindset and behavioural change towards privacy and ethics (the Blue Spirit, anti-bribery and corruption, human rights), compliance and internalizing privacy and ethics related policies as an integral part of the Celcom work culture among leaders and employees. 
  • Providing advice to ensure Celcom operates in a manner which complies with various laws such as Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009,
  • Achieving high standard of privacy and ethics by maintaining practice in line with the latest developments and practices, changes in the legal and regulatory framework and international best practices. 
  • Sound understanding of the business across the value chain and mapping against new and emerging laws and risks impacting the business and identifying critical governance and compliance related risks that can escalate into crisis. 
  • Always vigilant to ensure crisis preparedness and influence others likewise. 
  • Keeping abreast with the issues and information due to the dynamics and volatility of the business environment, within Celcom and external forces.



  • Good honours degree i.e. LLB (Hons)/ Bachelor of Laws from a recognised university / institution
  • Preferably at least 8 years working experience in a range of legal work in particular involving local and international laws and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of specialized areas of law e.g. Anti-bribery and corruption laws, Privacy and Personal Data, Human Rights, Environment and Climate Change  
  • Must have the ability to provide opinions and recommendations which are not only legally sound but commercially efficacious.
  • Experienced in planning, policy- making, strategic planning, project management and related communications experience are preferable.
