Legal Advisory (6 months contract)

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Provision of legal advice and services to Celcom’s operations and technical department (namely, network, IT, product innovation, media, content, enterprise, sales, marketing, digital services, finance, facilites and HR) to ensure compliance with applicable laws and Celcom’s policies, standard practice and requirements and to protect Celcom’s interest within Legal’s service levels or the timelines required by Celcom’s management.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Draft, review, peruse, prepare and negotiate legal documents and agreements, provide recommendations and ensure legal compliance with applicable laws for operations and technical matters.
  • Identify and assess legal risks to ensure Celcom’s interests are duly protected while achieving Celcom’s objectives.
  • Provide legal advice and legal research and analysis, as and when required and to propose appropriate courses of action to be taken in Celcom’s best interest.
  • Maintain good working relationship between Legal and internal clients as well as external parties without compromising integrity and Celcom’s best interest.
  • Ensure all requests from stakeholders are duly attended and handled professionally and advice provided are sound with Celcom’s best interest in mind at all times.
  • Liaise with external solicitors and legal advisors as and when required and to monitor the performance of the external advisers to ensure high quality of services are provided.
  • Assist and ensure compliance of the latest regulations and laws in the provision of the legal advice and service to stakeholders to ensure that all legal advice is current and legal provisions are updated.
  • Attend to meetings, discussions or negotiations with internal and external client and provide advice, recommendations and suggestions for any legal issues as well as preparation of the minutes of meeting.
  • Report and update the HOU/HOD on matters which has material impact to Celcom or the division.
  • Assist HOU/HOD in special projects and corporate exercise undertaken by Celcom group of companies.
  • Draft and review the terms and conditions for Celcom’s promotions and campaigns and any terms within the operations scope.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Monitor the legal developments related to the telecommunications industry to ensure that the advice given is up to date and relevant.
  • Provide legal awareness to business users on contracts compliance issues, as and when required.
  • Generally to assist the HOU/HOD on all matters related to the Legal Division as assigned by the HOU or the HOD as the case may be.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Law/LLB
  • At least 5 -7 years post qualification experience with exposure to telecommunications sector an added advantage.
  • Admitted as advocate & solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.

TECHNICAL & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES/ SKILLS

  • Excellent command in English and Bahasa Malaysia; verbal and written.
  • Computer literacy: Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Well-versed with the relevant laws, rules and regulations including the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and its subsidiary legislations.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work in dynamic and fast paced environment.
